PUBG Battlegrounds is a battle game developed by the PUBG Studios and was published by Krafton. The game was inspired by the Japanese film Battle Royale (2000) and is based on previous mods created by Brendan  Greene for other games; it was expanded into a standalone game under Greene’s direction. It is the first game in the PUBG Battlegrounds Universe series of games.

In the game, upto one hundred players land onto an island where they look for weapons and equipment and kill other players while saving themselves from getting killed.. The area of the game decreases in size by the time, leaving surviving players into an ever tightening space to force encounters. The player or team who survives till the end  wins the round.

It was first released for Windows in March 2017. The game was also released by Microsoft Studios for  Xbox One through  its Xbox Game Preview program in the same month. PUBG Mobile Game was released in 2018 allowing us to play the game on our mobiles (Android and iOS) for free. Some versions of the game for PS4 AND 5 get released every year to play for free.

The game received positive reviews from critics, who said that while the game lacks on some technical grounds, it has new types of gameplay which are approachable  by players of any skill level and age. Plethora of chinese clones of the games were also made which made the game even more popular.The game received many ‘Game of the Year’ nominations and set seven Guinness World Records It is considered to be one of the highest-grossing video games of all time.

Evolving Gameplay: Updates and New Releases

PUBG Battlegrounds is a player versus player shooting game in which upto one hundred players can fight in a battle royale, the player who remains alive till the end, wins the game .There are options to play in which players can choose to play solo, duo, or with a small team of three to four people. The last person or team which remains alive in the match wins the match.

The match starts with players landing through a parachute from a plane onto one of the eight locations on the map which consists of different sizes and landscapes. The plane’s flight path across the map is different in each round which requires players to quickly decide the best time to expel and hop on the ground. Players start with zero gear beyond and have customized clothing selections which do not affect the gameplay. As soon as players land, they can search for buildings, towns and other sites to find weapons, vehicles, equipment. These items are dispensed all over the map at the start of a match. Every few minutes, the area of the map shrinks and if  any player caught outside the safe area gets eliminated. There are increased chances of encounters when the map shrinks.  During the match, some  regions of the map are highlighted in red which indicates that there can be bombs and threats to players. Players are warned in these red areas so that they can find a shelter to hide or save themselves. A plane flies over various parts of the map and drops a loot package, containing items which are unobtainable during gameplay. On average a single game takes around 30 minutes.

After the completion of a game, players get in-game currency based on their performance. The currency is used to purchase items for character or weapon customization.
